Make up like a Catrina

We are going to explain, step by step, how to do a Catrina makeup with your friends.

Catrina makeup example

A good way to lose the fear of skulls and ghosts, is giving them another meaning, as tradition or entertainment.

To make this makeup you will need:

• Use the colors: white, black and red, these are the most popular colours on the Mexican Catrinas.
• A fine brush, you can use a lip brush for small details too.
• Apply the white cream, you can do it with a large brush for the face or with a sponge for the face.
• Moisturizing your face before starting to put on makeup, this point is very important, because it will allow the makeup to stay and later will be easier to remove it.

Step by Step:

1. Apply the white base on the skin and blur the face with a soft sponge or a big brush, don´t use white base on the eyes part
2. Once you have all the face ready, you have to put white shadow to fix the makeup base
3. With a black eyeliner you can draw 2 circles around eyes, you can use a guide to match the effect in both eyes. You can use a piece of cardboard and do a circle with a pencil, then cut it and place it over your eye, you can draw the shape with the eyeliner.
4. Apply the black colour eyeshadow into the eyelid and blurry with your fingers into the eyes circle.
5. Apply the purple shadow into the eyelid to achieve a skull effect.
6. Apply the purple shadow in the exterior part of the circle. You can do series or drawings.
7. You can apply colour on your lips too.
8. With black eyeliner draw a triangle on the nose.
9. Do an outline on your mouth, you can draw the details that you want in your face.
10. You can fill in the eyes half-moon with a purple eyeliner.

Step by step

• You should use the lacquer spray into the hair root on frontal part.
• Divide your hair, if you want a big pompadour, you should use more hair.

Tie up and divide the hair from the front

• Tie up the rest of the hair on laterals with hair clips.
• Tie up the frontal part of the hair hold it away from the head
• Put more lacquer on the hair root and use a hair comb to do a backcomb.
• You should do the backcomb in all the frontal hair.
• Once all the backcomb is done catch this part of the hair and and push it slightly, you should fix it with some hairclips
• Use more lacquer on the front side to fix well your hairstyle
• Put colored hair accessories as red roses on your hair.
